ASTM F2170 measures relative humidity inside the slab with a probe set at 40% of slab thickness for a slab drying from one side. Neither is exotic; both are the standard way to avoid a predictable failure.

What is a slab moisture test?

My last coating bubbled. Why?

How long before I can use the floor?

It depends on the chemistry. Published cure figures put polyurea at two to five minutes and polyaspartic at ten to forty-five minutes, with a polyaspartic floor generally back in service for vehicles inside about one to three days. An epoxy floor is commonly out of use for roughly four days to a full week.

Does Chattanooga humidity affect the install?

Yes, and it is not a small factor. Chattanooga’s average daily relative humidity is 72%, with mornings around 87%. A typical polyaspartic product specifies application between 40 and 90 degrees, relative humidity below 75%, and at least 5 degrees above the dew point. That is why install timing gets planned rather than assumed.

Will an epoxy floor yellow?

Epoxy has poor UV resistance and commonly yellows or chalks where sunlight reaches it. That is a chemistry property, not a workmanship question, and it is the main reason a sunlit floor is usually specified with a UV-stable topcoat.
